Water is a universal resource of prime necessity andglobal importance, whose knowledge, management and use can and should be approached from a necessarily multidisciplinary global perspective.

The 5th International Water Congress entitled “Water as a sustainable resource: science, business and well-being” is part of the study and research framework of the Auga Campus located at Ourense Campus, and as in previous editions, the main objective is to provide a meeting point for discussion and knowledge exchange on significant aspects related to water.

This edition, organized by the Faculty of Business Sciences and Tourism, has a multidisciplinary character, addressing specific aspects related to water, such as water heritage, its management in business and tourism, including aspects of aquaculture and the management of aquaculture companies, as well as sports tourism and thermalism. Additionally, aspects related to the circular economy, social responsibility and sustainable development objectives in the context of the water resource will be explored.

Within the broad scope of water, this 5th International Congress proposes to analyze different lines of research, with the participation of leading specialists who, in addition to contextualizing the field, will present through talks, different results or research models according to the following thematic blocks:

  1. Tourism Activity and Water
  2. Thermalism
  3. Circular Economy
  4. Business, Economy and Water

Target audience: university researchers and R&D personnel from public or private entities working on water-related topics at different space-time scales.

Under the heading “Water as a Sustainable Resource: Science, Business and Well-being”, the city of Ourense will become a forum for debate addressing this theme from a multidimensional perspective, both within the Iberian Peninsula and beyond.
