Water, the substance on which the specialization of the University Campus of Ourense is based, is a universal resource and a primary necessity of vital importance throughout the world and understanding it, its management and usage can and must be approached from a necessarily multidisciplinary, global perspective.

The IV International Congress on Water, organised by the Faculty of Law and named “Law and Water in the Horizon 2030” will focused on 2022 the study and research in the Campus Auga. Its main goal is to offer, as in previous editions, a meeting point to generate and disseminate knowledge on significant aspects related with water. In this occasion the scientific area from which water will be analysed as a natural resource, its management and its sustainable use will be Law.

In particular, there will be addressed specific challenges in the water governance in the frame of sustainable development goals in the 2030 Agenda, from an interdisciplinary legal perspective and with the participation of resource specialists. Among others, access to water and sanitation as essential rights for a dignified human life, measures to fight pollution and global warning, sustainable water management, its uses and good practices, the hydrological planning and the taxation.

To ease the researchers and professionals linked to the field of water and law participation and to create a space for dialogue, discussion and critical reflection able to arrive to relevant conclusion, the Congress has been structured in two consecutive six-hour sessions, with central intervention of twelve national and international experts, followed by deliberations, discussion and communications divided in three thematic blocks:

  • Board 1: Right to water
  • Board 2: Water and sustainability
  • Board 3: Water Management

The summary of the accepted communications will be published as Pre-Minutes, without prejudice to a digital edition, with ISBN of this IV Book of Proceedings. The selected communications will be published in a collaborative publication, together with reports and contributions from the scientific and organising committees members, in an legal editorial.
